A Gentle and fun Reminder to Fellow Practitioners: Don’t Lose Your Zen This Tax Season 🧘

Tax season — January through April — has a way of turning even the calmest, most centered practitioners into tightly wound problem-solvers running on caffeine and deadlines.

Tax season is intense.
It is stressful.🙆‍♂️
And yes — at times — it can be downright annoying.😖

But let’s pause for a moment and name the truth.

This is the nature of our trade.

In a very short window — roughly 12 weeks — we’re expected to do what few professions are asked to do:

• Update compliance requirements and WISP obligations
• Lock down cybersecurity and systems
• Prepare software, workflows, engagement letters, and client intake
• Manage communication at scale
• Close books, prepare payroll filings, 1099s, and financials
• And then do the real work — tax preparation, review, advising, and filing

All while putting out fires that should have been handled months ago.

And yes…
• Last-minute clients
• Price haggling
• “My cousin said…”
• Social-media tax experts quarterbacking
• Deadlines ignored until the final hour

The list is familiar — and long.

👉 But here’s the perspective worth holding onto:

This is exactly what we signed up for.
And it’s also what makes this profession remarkable.

In just a few short weeks, we make a real difference — in people’s finances, businesses, and peace of mind. Few professions offer that kind of impact, intensity, and purpose in such a concentrated season.

Tax season builds resilience.
It sharpens judgment.
It teaches boundaries.
It demands patience, tact, and emotional discipline.

And yes — it even teaches us how to multitask with grace when everything feels like it’s on fire.

👉 So, here’s the reminder — to myself as much as anyone else:

It’s ok when clients annoy you – who else should they annoy?
And how else can you truly serve them?
It’s ok!

Instead

Pause when you can.
Breathe when you need to.
Smile. Laugh. Stretch. Take a mini Zen walk.
Give yourself credit.

This season will pass — just as it always does.

And when it’s over, you’ll celebrate…
And quietly — perhaps surprisingly — you’ll even miss it.😢

Afterthought

Take a Zen moment when you can.
Expect the unexpected — because it will come.
Care for your clients. Care for yourself.
Stay centered. Stay balanced.
And remember, you can do this.🧘
